Civil Rights

Congresswoman Trahan believes that the promotion of fairness and justice is a hallmark of who we are as Americans. Each of us is deserving of the rights delineated in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. These rights are fundamental to all human beings, and all Americans deserve the same civil rights regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation.

Voting Rights Advancement Act

On February 26, 2019 Congresswoman Trahan helped to introduce the Voting Rights Advancement Act, which has since passed through the House of Representatives. This bill would ensure that states with a history of voter discrimination must “pre-clear” election changes with the U.S. Department of Justice.
