Service Academy Nomination

Military Academy Nominations

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, District office staff are working remotely. If you have any questions about the nomination process, please contact my Veterans & Military Liaison, Jorge Morales-Lopez at jorge.moraleslopez@mail.house.gov.

Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Service Academies. As the Representative for Massachusetts' 3rd Congressional District, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of applicants to four of the five service academies each year. The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

For more information, please review my Frequently Asked Questions page for those seeking a Military Academy Nomination or call our Lowell District Office at (978) 459-0101.

To be considered for a nomination from my office, you must submit the personal data form below, AND submit the following documents by October 31st. PLEASE NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED BEGINNING JUNE 1ST OF EACH YEAR. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5PM (EST) ON OCTOBER 31st OF THE SAME YEAR.

• 3 Letters of Recommendation

• Resume of extracurricular activities

• Official High School Transcript

• SAT and/or ACT Scores: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, your nomination packet will not be considered incomplete if you do not submit test scores with your nomination packet before the deadline.

• An essay stating why you want to attend a service academy (500 words or less)

You can submit an electronic PDF copy of your completed nomination packet to TrahanAcademies@mail.house.gov.

Or mail your completed nomination packet to:

In addition to applying for a nomination from my office, you MUST also apply directly to the academy of your choice. My nomination does not automatically result in selection by the service academies. The academy of your choice will make the final decision. If selected, you will receive an offer of admission (an appointment) directly from the academy.

If you have any questions about the nomination process, please contact my Veterans & Military Liaison, Jorge Morales-Lopez at jorge.moraleslopez@mail.house.gov.

Best wishes to you as you pursue your goal of attending one of the U.S. Service Academies and serving our country.
