Internships

My office is always accepting resumes from college students interested in interning in either my Commerce district office or my Washington, DC office.  Interns in my Commerce office  assist my staff, and have the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about how a congressional office provides constituent services and interacts with the community.  Interns in my Washington, DC office will have a chance to learn about the legislative process and the federal government by working closely with my legislative, communications, and constituent services staff.  Internships in my Washington, DC office may include a stipend for students who are not participating in organized programs in which their expenses are paid.  Interns in either office can arrange to receive academic credit for their work.  My internship program is open to all college students, regardless of their academic major, and preference is given to residents of the 40th Congressional District.

Candidates interested in an internship with my Commerce district office should send a resume, cover letter, a short writing sample (no longer than one page), and 3 references to Vanessa.Martinez2@mail.house.gov with “Intern Application – [First Name, Last Name]” in the subject line. Please specify your dates of availability in your message.
