Republican Sen. Martha McSally and Democratic Rep. Tom O’Halleran have proposed a bill to expand the boundaries of Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument in Flagstaff to include the visitor center that is located on Coconino National Forest land.
The bill would transfer about 97 acres of land to the National Park Service.
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey last week announced Gila County will receive a $21 million federal grant to build the Tonto Creek Bridge. In January, Governor Ducey called on the U.S. Department of Transportation to fund the bridge project, which was included as a policy priority in the Governor’s State of the State address.

Rep. Tom O’Halleran, D-Ariz., made a little history on Monday by launching the Blue Dog Democrats’ first-ever virtual rural opportunity roundtable series. The discussion with local and tribal leaders focused on the effects of the COVID-19 crisis on rural and tribal communities.
