Internships

In the Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall and spring semesters and throughout the summer with a preference for junior/senior college students. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

The deadline for submitting a Summer 2021 Intern Application is February 19th.

About Our Internship Program

Our office is proud to offer Congressional Internships to junior/senior college students, graduate students and young professionals. Our internship program is designed to provide interns with a first-hand glance into the federal legislative process. On a day-to-day basis, interns in the D.C. office will give tours of the U.S. Capitol Building, answer office phone calls, assist in legislative research, attend hearings and briefings and assist the staff with other tasks. Interns in the Birmingham District Office will also answer office phone calls, assist in district-specific constituent case work and assist the staff with other tasks.

Internships during the school year run according to fall and spring school semesters. Our summer internship program is split into two six week sessions. The daily hours of an intern are the same as those of staff members.

Although most of our internships are unpaid, interns will gain invaluable knowledge and real-world work experience that will enhance their academic and/or professional career. If you have any additional inquiries, please contact our Intern Coordinator at 202-225-4921.
