Art Competition

2020 Congressional Art Competition

We are pleased to announce that the Sixth Congressional District of Alabama will be participating in the Congressional Art Competition.  This nation-wide contest draws from over 200 Congressional offices, and recognizes the rich artistic talents of our young people. The winners from each district will have their artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol Building.

The competition is open to all Sixth District high schools. Participating teachers should limit their entries to five (5) ORIGINAL pieces per school.  Artists can enter various mediums such as paintings, drawings, collages and mixed media art.  All entries are due to Congressman Palmer’s District Office and will be exhibited at the Riverchase Galleria Mall.  After a week-long display, the Congressman will host a reception to announce the winners and release the artwork to be taken home by students.

The winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, DC and a two-night hotel stay to attend the opening of the art display and reception in June. There will be an opportunity to meet with Congressman Gary Palmer during the reception. The winning artwork is also featured online at House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.
