During his questioning, Loebsack noted the negative impact COVID has had on our nation's ethanol and biofuel producers, which has been compounded by the issuing of Small Refinery Exemptions (SRE).

    Earlier this year, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the EPA exceeded its authority in issuing small refinery exemptions (SRE) to companies who had not received waivers in the prior year. Dave has urged the EPA to now apply that decision nationally.

Dave’s Broadband DATA Act changes the way broadband data is collected, in order to best know where high speed broadband is actually needed.

    Dave questioned FCC Commissioners about his Broadband DATA Act to improve the collection of data to ensure broadband gets to where it is needed, including rural areas. He also discussed the Precision Ag Act that was signed into law as part of the Farm Bill and how highspeed broadband is needed to make sure our farmers can use all the technology available to them.

    At a September 11th Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing, Loebsack talks about his legislation, the Broadband Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability (DATA) Act (HR 4229). This bill will help improve the accuracy of FCC broadband data maps by changing the way broadband data is collected. It recently passed the Energy and Commerce Committee by a unanimous vote.

  • Holding EPA Admin Pruitt Accountable May 14, 2018

    Loebsack questioned EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt about the Agency' granting a “hardship” waiver from the RFS to an oil refiner which made $1.5 billion in profits last year. Typically, the waiver has previously been granted to small refiners that were facing economic hardship and in danger of going bankrupt.
