Veterans History Project

In 2000, Congress created the Veterans History Project with unanimous support from both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

My office can help you submit your firsthand account of your military service, told through audio recorded interviews, letters, postcards, personal diaries or photographs.

The Veterans History Project collects firsthand accounts from Gold Star family members and U.S. veterans from the following wars and conflicts:

  • World War I, 1914-1918
  • World War II, 1939-1945
  • Cold War, 1945-1990
  • Korean War, 1950-1953
  • Vietnam War, 1961-1975
  • Grenada (Operation Urgent Fury), 1983
  • Panama (Operation Just Cause), 1989-1990
  • Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm), 1990-1991
  • Southwest Asia (Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, Gulf of Aden), 1990-1995
  • Somalia (Operation Restore Hope), 1992-1993
  • United Nations Operations in Somalia (UNOSOM I and II), 1992-1995
  • Haiti (Operation Uphold Democracy), 1994-1995
  • Yugoslavia (Operation Allied Force, Operation Noble Anvil), 1999
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, IFOR/SFOR (Operation Joint Endeavor, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Joint Guard), 1995-2004
  • Kosovo (Operation Joint Guardian), 1999-Present
  • Global War on Terrorism, 2001-Present
  • Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom), 2001- Present
  • Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn), 2003-2011
