Military Academy Nominations

Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Service Academies. As your 1st District Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, each year I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. 

To request a nomination from my office please complete the form below and include the following items with your application packet:

  • Current Photo
  • High School/College Transcripts
  • ACT or SAT Assessment test results (ACT code: 7240) (SAT code: 4503)
  • Resume of extracurricular activities and leadership responsibilities
  • An essay stating why you want to attend a military academy (500 words or less)
  • Three letters of recommendation.

Please mail your completed nomination packet to my Chico District office by October 30, 2020. Packets with a date stamp of October 30, 2020, will be accepted.  Late application packets will not be accepted.

Important dates to remember:

  • April 1, 2020 - Begin accepting nomination applications
  • October 30 - Deadline to receive nomination applications
  • December 5th - Interview with my Military Academy Selection Committee
  • Week of December 14th - Nomination announcements mailed out
  • January - May 2021 - Appointments announced by various Military Academies

What are these options?

An appointment to the Service Academies is based on a desire by the candidate to devote a lifetime of military service and implies recognition by the appointee of an obligation to the government to devote him / herself to a military career.

If yes, please complete the attached authorization form and include with your application packet. (applying will in no way effect your eligibility for a congressional nomination)

** YOU MUST HAVE A CANDIDATE FILE OPEN WITH THE ACADEMY YOU ARE LOOKING TO BE NOMINATED TO PRIOR TO REQUESTING A NOMINATION FROM CONGRESSMAN LAMALFA. PLEASE CONTACT THE ACADEMY ADMISSIONS OFFICE WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
