The President is unquestionably focused on Americans and their well-being. Tonight was no exception. It’s unfortunate that America’s success can’t be celebrated across the aisle, but that’s just the way things are these days. My thoughts on tonight’s State of the Union before signing off:

The CARES Act has passed the House and is on its way to the President’s desk. The cost associated with this bill is extraordinary, but the most vulnerable in our area need this support while they isolate and recover. Congress’s efforts, while creating an unsettling precedent on spending, can end the uncertainty and bring our economy back up to speed. My full statement: https://bit.ly/3aslDlu

Christmas decorating will begin soon if it hasn’t started already! As I announced back in October, you can once again buy permits to pick out your tree from Butte Meadows in Lassen National Forest. My office has been coordinating with the Forest Service to make sure this wonderful North State tradition can continue this Christmas season.

The Forest Service has only allowed Butte Meadows Mercantile and Resort to sell permits for $10 a piece. Only two permits are allowed per household.

The deadline to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance in Butte and Lassen Counties has been extended to December 11th. Shasta and Siskiyou Counties have until December 16th. Please see my previous post for more information on how to apply ⬇️

REMINDER: Residents of Butte, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Lassen Counties can still apply for FEMA Individual Assistance. If you live in one of these counties and hav...e sustained any losses because of a wildfire this year, take pictures and videos of the damage, save receipts for any disaster-incurred costs, and file a claim with your insurance if you have it. For all costs not covered by insurance, FEMA may be able to help fill the gap.

The only way to determine if you are eligible for aid is to apply. You can do that in three ways:

1) Visit www.disasterassistance.gov
2) Download the FEMA Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet
3) Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 between 7 AM - 10:30 PM PDT.

When you apply for assistance, be prepared with the following information:
- Social Security Number
- Insurance policy information
- Address of the damaged primary dwelling
- A description of disaster-caused damage and losses
- Current mailing address
- Current telephone number
- Total household annual income
- Routing and account number of your checking or savings account (for direct transfer to your bank account)
