The deadline for student artwork submission for the 6th District’s Congressional Art Competition has been extended to Friday, May 15, 2020.
There will be a public displaying of all submitted student artwork from May 26 to May 29 at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, located at 51 Sheboygan St., Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Winners will be announced on Friday, May 29. In light of the COVID-19 emergency restrictions imposed on schools and businesses by the State of Wisconsin, please note that this information is subject to change in the event that Governor Ever’s “Safer at Home” order is extended.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in the Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District.
The Artistic Discovery Competition is open to all high school students residing in the 6th Congressional District of Wisconsin. The over-all winner of our District's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include the winning artwork from all participating Districts from across the country. The winning artwork is also featured on the U.S. House of Representative’s Congressional Art Competition page.
The 2020 Congressional Art Competition’s rules are available here, and the following is a summary of the rules:
Artworks entered in the contest may be up to 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, including the frame. The art work may be:
- Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
- Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
- Two dimensional collages
- Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
- Mixed Media (use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, etc.)
- Computer-generated art
- Photographs
All entries must be original in concept, design and execution.
