Internships

I want to thank you for your interest in pursuing an internship in my office. 

My internship program is flexible and, if selected, my staff and I will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Once I receive your application, detailed materials on the internship and expectations will be promptly sent to you. An interview will also be conducted.

District Internship Information

While I am unable to offer paid internships, you may be eligible to obtain college credit, at the discretion of your academic advisor. Interning in my office can be a great learning experience and often proves to be quite helpful in future academic and career opportunities. 

If you are interested in interning in my Southeast Florida (Doral) or Southwest Florida (Naples) Offices, some of your duties may include:

  • Cataloging newspaper articles, including clipping, organizing and scanning into the computer distribution system
  • Researching issues or agency policies
  • Answering phone calls
  • Distributing mail and informational materials from agencies
  • Assisting with mailing projects
  • Filing
  • Greeting constituents and guests to our office
  • Data assembly and entry into Internet Quorum Government Data System
  • Other projects as assigned

Washington, DC Internship Information

The House of Representatives now offers a Paid Internship Program for the member's Washington, D.C. office.

If you are interested in interning in my DC office, some of your duties may include:

Legislative Intern

  • Assisting with the research and writing of constituent correspondence
  • Researching issues for legislation
  • Attending committee hearings and briefings on key legislation
  • Answering phone calls
  • Drafting memos on briefings and legislation at the request of a member of the staff
  • Assisting with mailing projects
  • Greeting constituents and guests of our office
  • Conducting tours in the Capitol building for constituents
  • Attending various lectures and classes about the political process
  • Monitoring floor action
  • Other projects as assigned

Press Intern

  • Monitoring the morning and afternoon news cycles at the state, local, national and international levels
  • Maintaining a communications log
  • Filing articles and media assignments
  • Assisting the press secretary with mass media printing
  • Drafting newsletters
  • Monitoring legislation and key events occurring in the district and state
  • Conducting tours in the Capitol building for constituents
  • Answering phone calls
  • Greeting constituents and guests of our office
  • Attending various lectures and classes about the political process
  • Other projects as assigned

We will have availability for a Legislative Intern and Press Intern this fall. Flexibility based on academic obligations.
