Oct 30, 2020
Press Release

Old Forge, PA – U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) today announced a $1,832,000 loan awarded through the USDA Rural Development’s Community Facility Grant and Loan Program to construct an addition onto the Eagle McClure Hose Company Number One firehouse in Old Forge.

“Our fire companies rely on federal funding to help them provide the best emergency response service that they can,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the House Appropriations Committee. “It’s critical that our brave firefighters have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively. This investment will help Eagle McClure Hose Company continue to carry out their mission of saving lives and protecting the Old Forge community.”

The loan has a 35-year term and a rate of 2.25%. The addition to the Eagle McClure Hose Company Number One firehouse will be approximately 5,000-square-feet and will be used to house fire apparatus. This addition will include replacing the generator and restrooms, as well as remodeling the garage into offices and team rooms. This building will house the existing fire company in addition to the two fire companies that are currently housed at the Old Forge borough building. The addition and interior renovations to the building will improve the traffic flow for fire company members, add fire safety walls, additional plumbing and increase room utilization.
