Ethics and Good Government
Rep. Dean believes in treating everyone with decency – and that doing so can help us develop a more honest, respectful, and inclusive political system.
As public servants, elected officials must be held to high standards. The Constitution requires Congress to exercise oversight responsibilities, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee, Rep. Dean takes that mandate seriously.
During her first week in Congress, Rep. Dean cosponsored H.R. 1, the For the People Act, which has passed the House. H.R. 1 would expand opportunities for voting, tamp down on dark money, fight back against gerrymandering, and tighten ethics rules for government employees. Along with Senator Bob Casey, Rep. Dean also introduced H.R. 2950, the Know Conflicts Act, which would provide a clearinghouse for information about financial conflicts of interest faced by the President.
More broadly, Rep. Dean prizes good governance – and works hard to ensure that government operates fairly, efficiently and effectively.

Blue Bell, PA – Last night, Rep. Madeleine Dean (PA-04) hosted her very first drive-in town hall at the Montgomery County Community College’s Blue Bell Campus. JENKINTOWN, PA – Today, Rep. Madeleine Dean (PA-04) announced that the Air Force has disbursed $2.8 million in funds that will allow Horsham Air Guard Station (formerly Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove) to partner with the Warminster Municipal Authority to build a permanent containment and filtration system for PFAS-contaminated surface water.

“The safety of our country is my top priority. Iranian Commander Soleimani was responsible for the death of Americans and innocent people. He was a constant source of instability in a region craving peace.
Yet, the Administration must work with Congress--as we enter this increasingly sensitive and uncertain time—to protect our citizens and our allies.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Madeleine Dean (PA-04) voted for both articles of impeachment against President Trump. The articles (H. Res. 755) address the President’s coercion of a foreign power into interfering in American elections – and his subsequent defiance of Congress’s Constitutionally-mandated oversight. The first article passed the House by a margin of 230-197; the second passed by a margin of 229-198.

"Madame Speaker,
Words matter.
We’ve heard many words over the course of these last weeks.
Still, what strikes me are the words that are missing from my colleagues on the other side of the aisle — a gaping hole in the conversation, the words they cannot or will not mouth, defending a President’s conduct. Conduct that threatens our constitutional order.
And so Madame Speaker, I ask,
WASHINGTON – On Monday, Reps. Madeleine Dean (PA-04) and Brad Schneider (IL-10) sent a letter to House and Appropriations Committee leaders urging them to include good governance and accountability mechanisms in upcoming Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations legislation.
