  • Full name of applicant (as it appears on the application)
  • Date of birth
  • Date you applied for the passport
  • Date of departure, or if you need to apply for a foreign visa

Experiencing extreme passport delays?

A recent change in international travel law has caused a record demands for passports, which has resulted in extreme delays. Though the State Department has added more staff and resources to accommodate the increased amount of requests, they have also modified the travel law temporarily. Currently U.S. Citizens traveling to Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and the Caribbean who have applied for, but not yet received passports, can re-enter the United States by air with proof of application from the State Department's website.  However, it is important to note that this change does not modify any entry requirement your destination country may have.

If you intend to travel internationally and do not currently have a valid passport or other acceptable travel documents, you may choose to apply for these documents several months in advance to accommodate potential delays in processing. In addition to these updates on passport operations, please check the State Department for more information about applying for a U.S. passport. You may check the status of your passportor you can email the State Department directly at npic@state.gov.
