Congressional Art Competition

The Congressional Art Competition - An Artistic Discovery of California's 16th District

The 2020 Congressional Art Competition has officially been announced. For those wishing to take part, please see our office's instructions  below and follow the Congressional Art Competition Guidelines. All artwork must be submitted to either the Fresno or the Merced District offices with the signed 2020 Student Release Form. Should you have any questions, please call any of my District Offices at the numbers below.

Congressman Jim Costa is excited to host the Congressional Art Competition, "An Artistic Discovery" to give high school students in the 16th District an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. Students living in the 16th District attending high school are encouraged to enter the Competition for a chance to have their piece exhibited at our Nation's Capital for an entire year! In addition, the highest scored pieces  will be showcased in the Congressman's Fresno and Merced District Offices for an entire year as well.

Since 1982, An Artistic Discovery has honored the creative talents of thousands of high school students across the nation. Local competitions are voluntarily hosted by Members of Congress in their home districts. In June, the winning artwork is sent to Washington, where it hangs in the Cannon Tunnel to be viewed by the millions of visitors to the Capitol each year. Winners are also invited to the Capitol for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Congressional reception.
