National Citrus Group Announces Support for Costa Chairmanship

(FRESNO, CA) - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16), who is seeking the chairmanship of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, received the endorsement of the California, Texas and Florida Citrus industries, citing his experience and history of collaborative leadership.

“It’s an honor to receive the endorsements of these key citrus industry leaders”, Costa said. “Fruit growers face unique challenges that must be addressed to maintain putting healthy food out to American consumers. I have the expertise to lead the Committee on these important issues."

In a letter addressed to House leadership, the three groups point out Costa’s experience and knowledge on issues such as trade, food security and support for rural ag communities, as reasons which make him the right choice for Chairmanship.

Costa has garnered a broad range of support from a multitude of industries since announcing his candidacy, most recently by receiving the backing of more than 70 organizations including the California Farm Bureau FederationCalifornia Fresh Fruit Association, Almond Alliance of California, United Ag, California Citrus Mutual, Fresno County Farm Bureau, and the Family Farm Alliance.
