WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) released the following statement regarding the Senate voting to acquit the President of the United States. Following the President asking a foreign government to investigate a political rival and endangering our national security by withholding military aid to an ally, Rep. Cisneros voted in support for the articles of impeachment, abuse of power and obstruction of justice, on December 19, 2019. Rep. Cisneros was part of the seven freshmen, national security Democrats who wrote the impeachment op-ed in the Washington Post.

The five U.S. service academies include the United States Naval Academy, United States Air Force Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) announced that he invited Julie Erick, a Fullerton constituent, as his guest for the President’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 4th. Julie is a breast cancer survivor who depends on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its protections for post-cancer treatments. Without protections for pre-existing conditions, she wouldn’t have been able to afford healthcare or receive cancer treatment.

The day also honors the contributions of Korean Americans in all aspects of society. Rep. Cisneros is an executive board member of CAPAC and an original cosponsor of H. Res. 38, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of Korean American Day and honoring the contributions of Korean Americans.
