Rome, N.Y. — Rome veteran Hugh Aikens was recently honored with his long-awaited and well-earned military service medals, presented by U.S. Rep. Anthony Brindisi at the New York State School for the Deaf (NYSSD).

Aikens, now almost 94, was 18 years old when he started performing his military service and winning awards for his valiant efforts.
