Congressional Letters and Certificates

Please note that due to the COVID-19 health emergency and the Safe At Home orders from Governor Newsom, Mayor Garcetti and Mayor Sahli-Wells, the office’s Letters and Certificates service has been suspended.  When the emergency orders are lifted, the service will phase back in until we have resumed full capacity.  We appreciate your understanding.

  • For memorial certificates ONLY, if someone has passed away and it would be meaningful to have a Certificate of Congressional Recognition for the person who has passed, please complete the form below and then send a text message to the Letters & Certificates Supervisor at 323-383-2546 with the date of the memorial. We will do our best to provide a timely certificate in this circumstance, but cannot guarantee turnaround in under 7 days.    

  • If you have already submitted a request for an event and: 1) have a new date; 2) have cancelled; or 3) have postponed but not yet selected a new date, feel free to email that information to CA37.Certs@mail.house.gov. We will update your request in our system, and look forward to being in touch with you. Do not hesitate to follow up when the emergency is over.

Thank you for contacting us, and for helping us to serve you by completing the form below with information about your request. We regret that, due to the high volume, we are not able to meet every request.

Once you have completed the online form, all correspondence related to your request should be directed to CA37.Certs@mail.house.gov. You may want to send a copy of the invitation or event flyer or other information that will help in producing the document(s) you request.

ADVANCE NOTICE
Please plan ahead. We require a minimum of four weeks advance notice for your request. We appreciate longer lead times, too.  Urgent requests (except for funerals) will rarely be met.

Feel free to call and confirm that your request was received at 323-965-1422. 
You should be certain to call if you have a short deadline, e.g. if you request a memorial certificate and the service is in 3 days.

GUIDELINES FOR PERSONAL RECOGNITIONS

We regret that, due to a high volume of requests, we are only able to provide recognition for birthdays and anniversaries that fall within the following limits:

  1. Birthdays: 75th or greater
  2. Anniversaries: 40th or greater

For a memorial certificate when someone passes away, please be sure to provide the date of birth, data of passing, and date of the funeral, memorial or other services.  

DELIVERY / PICK UP
Please be aware that certificates or printed letters may be mailed, but there is no guarantee that they will arrive in time for your event.  We recommend planning to pick them at the office at 4929 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 650, Los Angeles, CA 90010. There is one hour free parking available in the building parking lot, enter from Highland Ave. You should be notified when the order is ready, but feel free to contact us.
