Rep. Bass Takes Legislative Action To Stand With The People Of Armenia

November 2, 2020
Press Release
WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) issued the following statement after cosponsoring legislation supporting the Republic of Artsakh and condemning Azerbaijan's military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"I am proud to have joined my colleagues in supporting legislation to not only condemn Azerbaijan's military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, but also to denounce Turkish interference in the conflict. I stand with the people of Armenia."

The Congresswoman has cosponsored the below pieces of legislation:

  • H. Res. 1203 - This resolution condemns the military offensive launched by Azerbaijani and Turkish-backed forces on Artsakh and calls on all involved parties to honor cease-fire negotiations.
  • H. Res. 1165 - This resolution condemns Azerbaijan's military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed region also known as Artsakh, and denounces Turkey's participation in the conflict. The resolution reaffirms U.S. support of efforts to secure an agreement from Azerbaijan to cease military operations against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.

Last year, the Congresswoman voted in favor of House Resolution 296, which acknowledges the Armenian Genocide and rejects efforts to enlist, engage or otherwise associate the US government with denial of the genocide. This was the first time in 35 years a resolution like this was passed.
