Veterans

There are many active duty servicemembers & veterans that live in our district. Their issues are important to the Congressmember and her work in Congress. Congressmember Bass strongly believes that our budget should reflect the value of our veterans’ service and sacrifice. Our veterans have endured great personal sacrifice to defend our nation and protect our freedom, and this Congress must uphold our pledge to leave no veteran behind when they come home.

November 9, 2017 Press Release

“Today, we honor the selfless bravery that millions of veterans across the country have offered during their lifetimes. This commitment to the protection of our freedoms and democracy, whether it be voluntarily or by the result of a draft, deserves our recognition, admiration, and unadulterated gratitude. We are fortunate to have the unique opportunity today, as we do every day, to offer these servicemembers a fraction of the service they have given to us. To all veterans; thank you for your humble service.”

“The President’s discriminatory statements released this morning are disgusting. It’s startling he would make our country less safe by recklessly preventing a group of patriots from continuing to serve their country. I proudly stand behind our transgender community as they are cowardly assaulted by the President from his social media account.”

May 23, 2017 Press Release

“The President’s ‘stop deciding to be poor’ approach to the budget is a fundamental misstep that would permanently cripple the most vulnerable communities in the short run and erode our country’s international leadership in the long run. By proposing vicious cuts, budget director Mick Mulvaney and the rest of the Trump administration are baiting low-income Americans to look the other way as the administration sinks a knife into benefits needed to survive. No one chooses food stamps over a job.

“The purpose of the meeting, which I think we made very clear, was to answer his question about what our community has to lose,” Rep. Bass said after the meeting. “It’s his budget, it’s his policy, it’s his rhetoric; all of these factors demonstrate what we stand to lose and in some cases, what we’ve already begun to lose in the first fifty days of his administration.”

December 8, 2016 Press Release

"Just this morning, the Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill to help thousands of California National Guard soldiers and vets facing clawback payment demands. I am glad the Senate chose the wellbeing of those that have sacrificed for this country and the futures of their families over the broken system that took advantage of these heroes."
