Richardson, Texas – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today announced he helped secure over $2.3 million in savings for constituents of the 32nd District of Texas since his first day in Congress. Allred also announced that he closed 1,037 cases for constituents to resolve issues with federal agencies.

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) will be attending the funeral service of Congressman John Lewis at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. The service will take place on Thursday, July 30.
Allred released the following statement ahead of the services:
“It is an honor to attend the funeral services and pay respects to the life and legacy of my hero, Congressman John Lewis. I will be attending not only for myself, but for every North Texan whose life was made possible because of the tireless work of Congressman Lewis.
Today, Representatives Marc Veasey (TX-33), Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), and Colin Allred (TX-32) hosted a press call for regional reporters on the Senate’s need to extend $600 weekly emergency unemployment payments that are due to expire at the end of this month.
Democratic Congressman Colin Allred of Dallas urged the Senate to follow the House’s lead on this issue as soon as possible.
“As budget revenues decline due to COVID-19, our local governments have been stretched thin. It’s critical they are able to continue to provide vital essential services to North Texans,” said Rep. Allred. The House passed the Heroes Act in May which included much-needed funding to help cities and local governments respond to this virus, and I urge the Senate to do the same ASAP.”

“Aly and I were heartbroken to learn of the passing of Congressman John Lewis. Congressman Lewis is the reason I became a civil rights lawyer, and I would not be a member of Congress if it wasn’t for his love of his country and his commitment to fighting for the soul of our nation by causing some good trouble.
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) helped introduce bipartisan legislation by Rep. Peter DeFazio (OR-04) to re-authorize a successful Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) work-study program in congressional offices. The bill allows veterans to assist their fellow veterans with accessing the benefits and services they’ve earned. Republican Reps. Greg Walden (OR-02) and Aumua Amata Radewagen (AS-At Large) also helped introduce the bill as original cosponsors.
Democratic U.S. Reps. Eddie Bernice Johnson and Colin Allred, both of Dallas, authored a similar letter Thursday. Houston-area Reps. Sylvia Garcia, Al Green, Lizzie Pannill Fletcher and Sheila Jackson Lee, all Democrats, also protested the decision to end the funding in a letter to FEMA and HHS on Tuesday.
U.S. Reps. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, and Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, wrote a letter Thursday to Azar and Gaynor, supporting the county of Dallas’ request for additional testing supplies.
“Testing is critical to beating this virus. It must be easily accessible to everyone, but the lack of a national strategy from the Administration has left North Texas without necessary resources. It’s why Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and I fought hard to protect the sites in Dallas,” said U.S. Rep. Colin Allred. “Moving forward, I will do everything I can to support county and city leaders so we can ensure our community has the testing we need.”
