Acquisitions
Comprised of three departments – Purchasing, Contracts, and the Office Supply and Gift Shop – the Office of Acquisitions’ goal is to acquire goods and services at the best possible value. To accomplish this, the office works with Members, Committees, Leadership, and House Officers to assess their needs and fulfill their requirements. The Office of Acquisitions is committed to excellence, integrity, fairness, accountability, and innovation on behalf of its customers and in support of their missions
Customer Experience Center
The Customer Experience Center's six departments – the Capitol Service Center, Communications and Marketing, the Congressional Staff Academy, Customer Advocates, House Creative Services, and First Call – develop, foster, and maintain strong customer relationships. Each department ensures exceptional customer experiences with CAO services for Members and staff across the U.S. House of Representatives community.
The Customer Experience Center plays a vital role at the House, providing services such as the coordination of special event setups, development and delivery of professional development courses for House staff, photo and video shoots as well as graphic design, and communications and marketing of important administrative information for Members, Committees, Leadership, and their staff.
Finance
The Office of Finance – comprised of four departments – provides consultative, analytical, innovative, and customer-focused financial management services to the entire U.S. House of Representatives community.
The Office of Payroll and Benefits administers payroll and benefits for the House community including Leadership, Members, Committees, Officers, and their staff in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The Office of Financial Counseling provides guidance and support to the Leadership, Members, Committees, and Officers, and House staff regarding their official expenses and processing reimbursement vouchers in accordance with House rules and regulations. The Office of Budget, Planning and Analysis plays a central role in the budget formulation and execution processes for the Leadership, Members, Committees, Officers, and offices of the U.S. House of Representatives, in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The office also acts in an advisory role to the Chief Financial Officer in the allocation, administration, and optimization of all House funds. The Office of Accounting oversees general accounting and reporting needs including producing timely and accurate information to ensure the financial integrity of the House.
House Information Resources
Comprised of eight departments – Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, Enterprise Applications, Enterprise Operations, House Web Services, Information Security, Technology Governance & Compliance, Technology Support, Network & Facilities - House Information Resources provides a wide range of technology services and support for the House. House Information Resources staff are equipped with a variety of skills including coding, design, telecommunications, emergency response, and online security. Every day, House Information Resources engineers facilitate the smooth operations of the House’s infrastructure and thwart thousands of cyber-attacks and security breaches. House Information Resources also hosts websites for hundreds of Members and Committees and manages the website for the House of Representatives - House.gov.
House Recording Studio
The House Recording Studio has provided gavel-to-gavel coverage of the House of Representatives since 1979. The studio provides various video and audio services for Members that include Satellite feeds, file transfers, and video/audio duplications. The House Recording Studio also broadcast and webcasts Committee hearings.
Human Resources
The Human Resources team provides a variety of programs and services to support the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer. These offerings include recruiting, hiring, employee relations, performance management, diversity, safety, personnel security, privacy, employee assistance, wellness, workforce planning, and the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program. Every new and existing program offered by HR team is designed to foster a professional and engaged CAO workforce.
Logistics & Support
Comprised of four departments – Asset Management, Furnishings, Logistics, and Office Design and Move Services – the Office of Logistics and Support assists House offices in managing their office equipment inventories. The Office of Logistics and Support also builds, refurbishes, moves, and manages the House’s furniture inventory and provides carpet, drape, engraving, framing, locksmith, and upholstery services. Additionally, the Office of Logistics and Support installs and maintains modular furniture and assists offices with furniture floor plan layout as well as design services.
House Child Care Center
The United States House of Representatives Child Care Center, commonly known as HRCCC, provides full-day, year-round quality child care for children aged 10 weeks to 5 years of age of the Members of the House of Representatives, their staff, and House support personnel. Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 1990, the Child Care Center currently serves 160 children in a year-round, full-day program. The Child Care Center follows the developmentally appropriate method of teaching in which staff partner with parents to promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Intrinsic to this methodology is the idea that each child is seen as a unique individual to be respected, encouraged, and guided in a warm and nurturing environment. Our mission is to provide exceptional quality care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences in a safe and diverse environment to support the children and families of the House community.
Media Galleries
The news media galleries serve as liaisons between House offices and accredited media. Working under the stewardship of a Standing or Executive Committee of Correspondents and the Speaker’s Office, the galleries supervise and administer the operations of their respective gallery. Each office provides workspace, access, and information to the journalists they serve. The House Press Gallery assists journalists working for daily newspapers, wire services, and online news publications. The Radio-Television Correspondents’ Gallery works on behalf of radio and television news organizations, including online news sites with original audio and video. The Periodical Press Gallery serves those working for magazines, newsletters, non-daily, and online publications.
