Aguilar Announces $762,657 for Inland Empire Public Safety
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $762,657 for Inland Empire law enforcement agencies. The funding comes from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) and is a combination of new funding for 2020 and funding from 2017-2019 that the Trump Administration had previously withheld from the region. The grants will be received by cities throughout the 31st District in the following amounts:

Aguilar Announces $8.5 Million for Inland Empire Housing and COVID-19 Prevention
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the County of San Bernardino has received $8.5 million in Emergency Service Grant (ESG) funding to help provide homeless residents of the county with housing during the COVID-19 crisis. The funding comes from the CARES Act, and was disbursed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help fund Project Room Key, a county-wide initiative to help the homeless find temporary transitional housing.

Aguilar Announces Over $800,000 for San Bernardino School Safety Initiatives
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) received $737,520 for school violence-prevention and mental-health support programs and $87,350 for body-worn cameras to help keep SBCUSD police officers and students safe. The grants were administered by the US Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The funding will be used to help implement Project STAT, an initiative by the SBCUSD Police to help prevent violence within San Bernardino schools.

ICYMI: Aguilar Announces $10.5 Million and National Recognition for CSUSB Cybersecurity Center
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) has been designated as the Community National Center for Cybersecurity Education by the National Security Agency (NSA). This designation includes a $10.5 million federal grant and will allow CSUSB to act as the leading institution to develop and train the next generation of cybersecurity experts.

Aguilar Votes to Pass $2.2 Trillion Coronavirus Relief Package
The House of Representatives passed H.R. 925, the updated Heroes Act. The bill provides $2.2 trillion in coronavirus relief for the American people, including a second round of direct payments to most Americans, modifications to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to support small businesses, rent assistance funding, funding for schools to safely teach students, and an extension of federal supplemental unemployment benefits through January 31, 2021. The bill also includes additional funding for COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccination efforts.

Aguilar Announces $520,000 for Inland Empire Affordable Housing Programs
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services, Inc. (NPHS) has been awarded $520,000 by the United States Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund. The grant will help fund NPHS’ Community Investment Trust, which provides down payment assistance, home repair and solar financing to low-to-moderate income residents of Riverside and San Bernardino County.

Aguilar Announces $375,000 for Inland Empire Small Business Loans
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that AmPac Business Capital of Grand Terrace has received $375,000 from the US Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund for the AmPac Business Loan program. The program provides loans of up to $100,000 for Inland Empire small businesses to be used for hiring employees, growing inventory and other business-growth needs.

Aguilar Announces $2.4 Million in Coronavirus Relief for Inland Empire Affordable Housing Programs
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino (HACSB), the largest provider of affordable housing in the County, received $2,403,166 in additional CARES Act funding for Housing Assistance Payments. These payments allow HACSB to subsidize rent payments for low-income families, helping to reduce homelessness and keep more families safe in their homes during the coronavirus crisis.

Aguilar Announces Over $500,000 for Inland Empire Health Care
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced more than $500,000 in federal grant funding for three Inland Empire health care providers. SAC Health System (SACHS), a San Bernardino-based community health care provider, received a total of $369,750 split between two grants, the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (SBCDPH) received $93,013 and Inland Behavioral Health Services received $45,750. The funding comes from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and will allow local health care providers to invest in patient services like addiction counseling, mental health services, vaccine readiness and more.
