Speaker Pelosi Says Democrats Will Lead 2021 Agenda with H.R. 1, the For the People Act [Video]

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi today reaffirmed Democrats’ commitment to passing H.R. 1, the For the People Act, as Congress’ first order of business in 2021.

“We have plenty of work to do in a Joe Biden Administration,” said Speaker Pelosi. “We’re going to have H.R. 1 right off the bat – for cleaner government so that we can reduce the role of big, dark special-interest money that prevents us from having policies that the American people need.”

“Speaker Pelosi and our Democratic Caucus have long championed and prioritized H.R. 1, the For the People Act,” said Democracy Reform Task Force Chair Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.). “This historic anti-corruption and clean elections bill will protect and expand the right to vote, expose secret foreign money in American politics, crack down on lobbyists, strengthen election security and return power back to the American people with clean, citizen-owned elections. We must move quickly in the new Congress to pass H.R. 1 and sign it into law.”
