About

Despite the millions of Central Americans living in the US and the impact that changes in Central America have on the U.S. economy and national security, little attention has been focused on Central America. The goal of the Central America Caucus is to provide an avenue to educate Members of Congress and find consensus on the issues facing Central America and to maintain a continuous, productive engagement between Congress and governments and civil society in the region.

The Caucus launched on February 24, 2016 and was kicked off with a meeting with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales.  Since then, Caucus members and staff have met with numerous leaders from the region as well as representatives from the administration and prominent international organizations.  The Caucus has also hosted several briefings and events on Capitol Hill to educate staff members on issues facing Central America.

The Central America Caucus consists of over 30 bipartisan Members of Congress and is co-chaired by Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (D-CA) and Congressman David G. Valadao (R-CA).
