Darryl Auguste is asking for donations.

2nd post attempt to get around some broken FB nonsense! 😞

I’ve been MIA from social media the past week to take some time to recharge my mental batteries, but… ...we back! And what better way than with our 2nd Educate & Donate spotlight. Last time, we made it to $6k in donations & matching to the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. Let’s see if we can get to $10k this time around – I’ll match every dollar put in up to $5k to get us there. Share share share! And donate using the FB donate button below this post 😀

Today’s spotlight comes to us courtesy of Mr. Kevin Fitzroy Beckford from The Hustlers Guild. Before I get into that, I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell y’all a little bit about KB. In my life, I’ve met very few people who are as much about ALLLLL of the work as him. He truly lives and breathes empowering & enabling Black lives & culture. I still remember welcoming him to Yale’s campus for Cultural Connections, a pre-orientation program for incoming freshmen of color, so to see him continue to shine all these years later – after a couple of Masters degrees & an appointment as a special advisor to the Obama administration no less – brings me nothing but joy. The epitome of #blackexcellence and I'm proud to call him a brother.

If you didn’t already know, The Hustlers Guild is a non-profit that provides vocational/college and career readiness, Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) support services, and social-emotional learning to young people in cities across the United States.

Currently, many students across the nation are unable to meet the district-wide distance learning requirements and have regressed academically and socially because they lack access to a computer or WiFi at home. These obstacles have made it difficult, if not impossible, for students to access the virtual curriculum and instruction to pursue their studies.

To support students during these unprecedented times, THG is providing virtual career readiness and programming. To make this a reality, they have partnered with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Anthony Anderson, Dave East, Pentatonix member Kevin Olusola, and Jess Hilarious, to name a few and companies such as Sony Music U, Roc Nation, and Def Jam. Peep a snapshot of these hangouts here: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CALf7E1n4Cw/…

Their programming is designed to bridge growing opportunity gaps through student-focused professional and social emotional development training, networking with community and peers, and career coach pairing. Their sessions touch on critical skills such as crafting the perfect elevator pitch, networking etiquette, mentorship/sponsorship, navigating predominantly white spaces while being authentic and more. They’re also aiming to secure 40 devices and help 40 families get connected to the internet, so their students don’t get left behind.
