  • Congressman Tim Ryan discusses the importance of Advanced Manufacturing for economic development of regions distressed by loss of manufacturing jobs.
  • Representatives Tim Ryan, Mark Takano and Paul Tonko, accompanied by Lieutenant General Michael Dana and Vice Admiral Phil Cullom pushed a large button to transmit design data to the ISS 3D printer. Mr. Donald McCormack, and Made in Space CEO Andrew Rush also took part in the event. Progress of data transmission and confirmation of receipt, which took only a couple minutes, by the ISS was observed on a large computer screen.
  • The fourth annual STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Awards recognized manufacturing women who exemplify leadership within their companies. This national honor identified the best of the best women in the manufacturing industry, and further encouraged women to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers.
  • The annual “Engineering Public Policy Symposium” organized by ASME in Washington, DC on April 19th was attended by over 130 society leaders from 44 multi-disciplinary engineering organizations (representing more than two million engineers). Administration officials, Members of Congress, and Congressional staff participated in discussions on “Fiscal Year 2017 Federal Research and Development Budget Outlook / Research & Emerging Technologies.”
  • ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) sponsored a Congressional Briefing on Advanced Manufacturing on February 11, 2016. Congressman Tim Ryan spoke to the important role advanced manufacturing plays in strengthening the U.S. economy and to Congress’s role of ensuring proper investment. Speakers at the briefing described the advanced manufacturing programs at DOC, DOD, DOE and NSF.
