Oral Health

Oral health is an important part of overall health that is often overlooked but can severely impact quality of life. Regular dental visits can do more than keep your smile attractive – they can help in identifying whether you may be developing a disease like diabetes or if you’re at risk for cardiovascular disease or stroke.

More than 47 million people in the U.S. live in communities with limited access to dental care. Low-income adults, in particular, are almost twice as likely as those with higher incomes to have had no dental care in the previous year. Compounding the problem for low income Americans, poor dental health can be an obstacle to employment as dental issues can pose challenges in landing jobs that require interacting socially with the public.

The CBC Health Braintrust is committed to promoting oral health as a key component of public health and support initiatives that increase access to oral health services in vulnerable communities.
