Portland, Maine—Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) announced today that two communities in her District—Bridgton and Rockland—will receive a total of $30 million in grants and loans to make critical improvements to their wastewater systems. Funding comes from the USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants Program, which Pingree has defended in Congress.

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) announced today that Maine organization CEI would receive a $600,000 federal grant to help Junora, a manufacturing company in Biddeford, create 30 new jobs. Funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Community Economic Development Program, which Pingree fought to restore funding for on the House Appropriations Committee.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) has been chosen to serve as one of six Democratic Members on the conference committee that is mending differences between the House and Senate’s third “minibus” appropriations bills. As a member of the conference committee, Pingree will help to determine the final spending levels for the appropriations bills relative to Agriculture, Interior, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), programs. The committee’s final bill draft will be sent to a vote in both chambers.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Pingree has regularly gone to bat for the NEH, most recently saving the agency from a proposed 15% budget cut in July
