Images and B-roll

NIH is the nation’s medical research agency. Our 27 Institutes and Centers maintain programmatic responsibility for thousands of disorders, health conditions, and research areas.

The NIH sponsors a centralized image service for the dissemination of primarily scientific, biomedical, and disease related imagery. Photos of NIH leadership, labs, buildings, and major historical events are also available. Images posted to the NIH Image Gallery are considered free-to-use with credit. This portal is provided for use by the science and health community, the press that covers health and science, teachers and other educators in health and science  and non-profit organizations that produce health and science information. It is not intended for commercial use.

If you are requesting an image which you do not find on the site, you may email your request to photorequests@nih.gov. Please indicate whether you have a deadline and where the image will appear (i.e. on the Web, in print, a poster, newsletter, etc.) You will hear back from us shortly.

If you have a question about using the NIH logo, please email logo@nih.gov.

If you would like to request to add an image to the Flickr gallery, please send a high-resolution jpg file, caption and credit information to flickr@od.nih.gov. Please note that all images must be free to use and subject matter must be related to NIH research.
