Real-Life Stories: Narratives

Real-life stories feature first-person perspectives from children, youth, families, and professionals involved with the child welfare system. The narratives focus on this year’s National Foster Care Month theme of "Supporting Kinship Connections" and emphasize the importance of identifying, developing, and supporting prospective and current foster parents and kinship caregivers. These inspiring stories are a powerful way to connect real life to important practice issues, and can be used as tools for training new child welfare professionals, recruiting and training foster parents, and in National Foster Care Month State and local media and awareness campaigns from around the country. Narratives from National Foster Care Month 2016 and 2017 also are available.
