Manufacturing Caucus

We must fight for good-paying, high-quality jobs across our region. The manufacturing sector provides these kinds of jobs. A strong manufacturing base is critical to economic growth. This is why I am proud to be a Co-Chair of the bipartisan House Manufacturing Caucus.

Our mission is to examine and promote policies that help American manufacturers find trained and educated workers, while continuing to lead the world in developing and implementing innovative industrial technologies, operate on a fair and level playing field with their foreign competitors, and obtain the capital they need to thrive.

In 2013, I introduced the Revitalize American Manufacturing Innovation (RAMI) Act, a bi-partisan bill that was signed into law and is now spurring growth and innovation in our manufacturing sector through private-public partnerships.  These partnerships have resulted in a network of manufacturing innovation institutes that currently has 14 institutes across the country, two of which are in Upstate New York. The RAMI Act will add more manufacturing institutes to bolster private-sector job creation, advance our global competitive edge, and enhance our national security. We will engage the best and the brightest minds in manufacturing, academia and business to move American manufacturing forward so that we can ‘make it here, sell it there.’

In our district, manufacturing jobs pay on average 45% more than non-manufacturing jobs.  These are the jobs we want to keep and these are the jobs we want to attract to New York and America.
