  Arlington National Cemetery is open from 8:00AM to 5:00PM daily. The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier occurs every hour on the hour and every half hour during the summer months.   The Bureau of Engraving & Printing is located on 14th & C Streets, SW. The Bureau provides public tours Monday through Friday continually from 9:00AM until 2:00PM, leaving every 15 minutes.   The State Department is located at 2201 C Street, NW. Due to the large volume of requests, reservations can be made up to three months in advance. Tours may be arranged by contacting the Department of State Tour Office at (202) 647-3241 between the hours of 8:15 - 11:30AM and 1:30 - 5:00PM weekdays. • Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Center

  The Hirshhorn Museum and Scultpture Garden, a part of the Smithsonian Institution, is home to international modern and contemporary art. The museum is located on the National Mall on the corner of 7th Street and Independence Avenue, SW. It is open from 10:00AM to 5:30PM daily (except for Christmas). Metro: L'Enfant Plaza

• The Kennedy Center

  The Kennedy Center is located on New Hampshire Avenue and the Rock Creek Parkway, NW. Free tours of the Kennedy Center are given by the Friends of the Kennedy Center from 10:00AM to 1:00PM daily.   The Library of Congress Jefferson Building is located at 1st Street and Independence Avenue, SE. Tours are conducted at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, Monday through Friday; and 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, on Saturdays. Groups of 10 people or more need reservations.   President George Washington's home has been owned and operated by a private non-profit organization, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, since 1858. Mount Vernon located near Alexandria, VA and welcomes visitors April through August from 8:00AM to 5:00PM daily. In March, September and October, visitors are welcome from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. November through February, visitors are welcome 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Visitors may purchase tickets to tour Mount Vernon at the mansion. Driving directors to Mount Vernon may be downloaded here.

  The newest Smithsonian museum opened September 24, 2016, near the Washington Monument, and has welcomed more than 1 million visitors to date.  It is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture.   The U.S. Supreme Court is located at 1st Street and Maryland Avenue, NE and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 4:30PM, except federal holidays. • United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

  The Museum is located near the National Mall, just south of Independence Avenue, SW, between 14th Street and Raoul Wallenberg Place. The Museum is open from 10:00AM to 5:30PM daily (except Yom Kippur and Christmas). Timed passes are necessary for visiting the Permanent Exhibition — The Holocaust — and can be obtained at the Museum on the day of your visit or in advance by ordering online at www.tickets.com or by calling (800) 400–9373.   The National Cathedral is located in Northwest Washington. It offers tours on Monday and Wednesday at 9:15AM for which you can obtain tickets from my office. Guided tours of the Cathedral, for which you do not have to go through my office, are offered Monday through Friday from 10:00AM to 11:30AM and 12:45PM to 3:30PM on Saturday except during special events.   The White House Visitor Center is located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (between 14th and 15th Streets). Senator Burr's office can make requests for White House tours for North Carolina constituents. Security measures enacted by the White House require that tour requests be made at least 21 days to three months in advance, and due to the volume of requests, tours are not guaranteed to be available.
