Each day more than 20 veterans take their own lives, which is why it is unconscionable that the VA would leave millions of dollars for suicide prevention efforts unspent. Ensuring our veterans in crisis know what resources are available to them is essential. The VA must do better. We also have to pass my bill, the Sgt. Brandon Ketchum Never Again Act, to ensure veterans get the timely care they need. My bill would guarantee that any veteran in crisis who is seeking inpatient mental health care from the VA is guaranteed a bed. It is past time for Congress to get this bill signed into law.
