Washington, D.C. is enriched with the treasures of our American heritage, offering a host of historical, cultural and diverse sightseeing opportunities.

My staff and I are delighted when fellow Iowans come to town, and we are ready to help make your stay as pleasant as possible.

I hope you will find the information in this section to be helpful in planning your visit to our nation's capital. We can mail a packet of information with maps and brochures to you to assist in planning your trip.

During your stay in Washington, I hope you will have the opportunity to drop by my office for information on area sites, get a tour of the capitol, or simply say hello. We are located in Room 1527 on the fifth floor of the Longworth House office Building, on Independence Avenue across from the Capitol.

Congressional Reserved Tours

With enough advance notice of your trip, my office may be able to obtain congressional reserved tours for you. All reservations are provided to residents of Iowa’s Second Congressional District on a first-come, first-served basis, and many tours are filled up to six months in advance. Therefore, constituents are encouraged to request tickets as early as possible.

Tickets are free, and provided on a first-come first-served basis. If my office is unable to secure a congressional tour for the sites you selected, most locations are available for public tours. Please visit here for information about public tour information for many of the sites in Washington D.C.

Admittance is determined by the individual tour site or agency, not by the Congressional office. Unless specified, tours are available Monday through Friday.

Due to the way Congressional tours are processed in Washington D.C., please only list dates you are available from 7:00 am EST to 5:00 pm EST.
