House Passes Interior/Environment and Financial Services Appropriations Bills

Washington, D.C. - The House today approved a package of two fiscal year 2019 Appropriations bills, including a bill funding the Interior and Environment and a bill funding Financial Services and General Government.

The Interior Appropriations bill contains a total of $35.3 billion, funding programs that protect and make the best use of domestic natural resources, that provide investments in infrastructure such as improvements for drinking water systems, and that help protect against and fight devastating wildfires. The bill also makes strides to rein in harmful regulations at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill contains a total of $23.4 billion, targeting those funds to financial law enforcement and safety, efforts to fight opioid abuse, and programs that provide investments and opportunity for small businesses. The bill also continues efforts to continue to implement the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017” at the Internal Revenue service.

“These bills fund vital programs across the federal government, including those that make Americans safer, protect our nation’s resources, and create jobs, especially in America’s small businesses. The package targets resources to programs that will help boost economic growth and opportunity, protect consumers and investors, promote an efficient federal court system, and help stop financial crime,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen said.  “This important legislation also makes key investments to address many of the other challenges facing our nation – such as providing funds to fight the crushing opioid epidemic and to stop cyber-attacks. I look forward to working with our Senate colleagues to get these critical bills signed into law as soon as possible.”
