Press Release

WASHINGTON- On Wednesday, September 10, 2014, Creative Rights Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Judy Chu and Rep. Howard Coble partnered with members of the film and television industry to hold the first-ever “Beyond The Red Carpet: Movie & TV Magic Day” on Capitol Hill. Over 400 attendees, including 30 Members of Congress participated in the event.  A speaking program and thirteen exhibit booths offered a behind-the-scenes look at our American film and television industry. As co-chair of the Creative Rights Caucus, Rep. Chu released the following statement:

“Our films and television shows represent some of the best creative works that have ever existed.  We not only produce vibrant and varied entertainment that is enjoyed by audiences all around the world, but the industry employs nearly 2 million Americans, in all 50 states. It is these craftsmen and women who depend on its continued economic vitality – and who are hurt most by online theft and runaway productions to other countries.  I am incredibly proud of the men and women who work behind the scenes, and today’s event showcased their talent, creativity, innovation and hard work that goes into making the stories come alive on screen.”
