Veterans
As a veteran, I fully understand the commitment and sacrifice each serviceman and servicewoman makes for our great nation. Our veterans are heroes and deserve our respect and gratitude. However, for many veterans coming home, it is a difficult and painful transition – especially dealing with the VA bureaucracy.
We must keep our promise to those who answered our nation’s call by ensuring they have access to the highest quality health care. The VA must be held accountable for failures in the Veterans Health Administration, which must be reformed to improve wait times and quality of care. Regardless of when they served, I believe that every soldier, sailor, Marine, and airman always receive our utmost attention. We need to keep our promise to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as our POWs and MIAs.

WASHINGTON, DC: On Thursday, September 13th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4913 to rename a United States Postal facility in honor of the deceased Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) is the original author of H.R. 4913, which will designate the United States Postal facility located at 816 East Salisbury Parkway in Salisbury, Maryland, as the ‘‘Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner Post Office Building’’. Congressman Harris released the following statement lauding its passage:
WASHINGTON, DC: On June 8, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5895, the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act. Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), a member of the Appropriations Committee, made the following statement lauding the bill’s passage:
Easton, Md. - Thousands of lives who were lost during the Vietnam War were honored on Friday with the traveling Vietnam Memorial.
Those who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored with bag pipes, a wreath laying ceremony and more.
Local families that had loved ones pass in the war got special recognition.
"As our Vietnam Veterans are getting up in age it's quite appropriate now to remember those who never came back from the war and that's what we're doing here today in Easton," said U.S. Congressman Andy Harris.
WORCESTER CO., Md. - Delmarva honored the fallen with dozens of ceremonies on Memorial Day from Dover to Exmore.
Hundreds gathered at the Worcester County Veterans Memorial Monday morning to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice with an emotional ceremony.
Mike Beatty, a speaker at the event said, "Today we are here at this beautiful Veterans Memorial to pay tribute to our fallen heroes and to recognize the men and women who gave all."
WASHINGTON, DC: On May 21, the U.S. House of Representatives passed several VA reform bills, including but not limited to: H.R. 4451, the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Programs Reauthorization Act; H.R. 4958, the Veterans Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act; and H.R. 3832, the Veterans Opioid Abuse Prevention Act. HURLOCK — Veterans Day was recognized at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock on Saturday, Nov. 11, with U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md.-1st, as the guest speaker.
The poignant ceremony paid tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice.
