Military Academy Nomination Forms Will Be Accepted Through October 19th

The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please review the page of Frequently Asked Questions for those seeking a Military Academy Nomination.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Congressman O'Halleran may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. To request a Military Academy Nomination from our office, please complete the form below. In addition to completing the below form, a complete application includes the following items:

Current headshot no smaller than 2”x3” and no larger than 5”x7”
Official high school transcript
American College Testing Program (ACT) results and/or College Board Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) results
1. You may have your scores sent directly to our office.

Resume of academic, athletic, leadership, and community activities and accomplishments
An essay stating why you want to attend a service academy (500 words or less)
Minimum of three letters of recommendation

Timeline:

Application opens: Open Now
Application closes and all materials must be received by our office: Friday, October 19, 2018.
Notification of assigned interview time: Early November
Panel interviews: Mid November. Interviews are tentatively set for Saturday, November 17, 2018 and will likely take place in Phoenix. If you are applying for a nomination from more than one office, we will do our best to accommodate schedules of other offices holding interviews on same day.
