Since its establishment in 1982, each spring the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors the Congressional Art Competition for high school student artists. This annual competition gives the winning student in each participating district a rare and unique opportunity to display their artwork in the United States Capitol where thousands of visitors can view and appreciate their talent.

Each year, it is inspiring to see the wealth of skill and creativity of our Third District students who share their life experiences and values through art.  That is why, in addition to participating in this program, it is my privilege to host an annual Art Exhibition where all of the artwork submitted to my office for the competition can be showcased and shared with the community. These exhibitions are widely attended by students, teachers, school administrators, community members, and government officials. The Art Competition and Exhibit is a testament not only to our students’ hard work and talent, but to their parents and teachers who invest in them…and to our community who supports them and celebrates their success.
