Regardless of how Republicans are trying to spin it, people with pre-existing conditions are at great risk. They could be denied coverage or charged so much more than their neighbor that health insurance is unaffordable. Do you have high blood pressure or diabetes? What about asthma or a peanut allergy? Have you had a C-section? These are all pre-existing conditions. And this is just one aspect of the legislation that concerns me. House Republicans are rushing this bill to the floor without important analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Remember the CBO estimated that the American Health Care Act would result in 24 million Americans losing health coverage. Does anyone really think that a couple of amendments will change this staggering number? It looks like this legislation is headed for a vote today and I am 100% opposed.
