WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Rules Committee Ranking Member Louise M. Slaughter (NY-25) released this statement on the departure of Staff Director Hugh Halpern:

“The Rules Committee has the most respected staff on Capitol Hill and we are like a family. Hugh is no different. He has always been a pleasure to work with and while he will be missed, we are glad Hugh is not going far. I wish him the best as he begins this next chapter working in the Office of the Speaker. I also want to congratulate Deputy Staff Director Stephen Cote on his new role as staff director of the Rules Committee.”
