Slaughter Says Health Care Bill Is Available Online

WASHINGTON- Rep. Louise Slaughter, Chairman of the House Rules Committee, announced today that the health care reform bill would be scheduled for a hearing and markup next week. Slaughter said she asked for the “Affordable Health Care for America Act” to be posted on the committee website immediately so that members and the public would have plenty of time to read it before the Rules meeting, and before the full House considers the bill later next week. Details on meetings times will be announced later.

“This bill is the culmination of hundreds of meetings, hearings, markups and detailed consideration by the entire Congress. It’s my belief that our efforts have produced a bill that provides security and stability for ordinary American families who will no longer worry about whether they can get basic care from a doctor if they get sick. This historic legislation meets our most important criteria – it is fully paid for and deficit neutral. I encourage all members to read the bill, study the bill and understand the historic opportunity at hand to reform our health care system.”
