Rules Committee Grants Supplemental Conference Rule & CJS Appropriations Rule

Washington, DC – The Rules Committee this afternoon approved the Conference Report to accompany H.R. 2346, the Supplemental Appropriations Act. The rule waives all points of order against the conference report and against its consideration. The rule provides that the conference report shall be considered as read. The rule provides that the Chair may postpone further consideration of the conference report to a time designated by the Speaker.

In addition, the Committee also granted a rule providing for consideration of H.R. 2847, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010.  The open rule provides for one hour of general debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Appropriations. The rule makes in order only those amendments that are received for printing in the Congressional Record not later than June 15, 2009 or are pro forma amendments for the purpose of debate.
