Organizational Meeting for the 115th Congress
The Rules Committee held its organizational meeting for the 115th Congress on Wednesday, January 4 at 10:30am.
H. Res. 639 – Authorizing the Speaker to appear as amicus curiae on behalf of the House of Representatives in the matter of United States, et al. v. Texas, et al., No. 15–674.
The Rules Committee held an original jurisdiction markup on H. Res. 639 at 3:00pm on Wednesday, March 16. The Rules Committee ordered the measure favorably reported to the House. Immediately following the original jurisidiction markup, the Rules Committee held a meeting on H.Res. 639 and reported a closed rule for its consideration. On Thursday, March 17, following adoption of the rule, H.Res. 639 was agreed to by a record vote of 234-186.
