It's hard for some to believe that there are medical facilities in South Dakota today where staff are washing surgical instruments by hand because the sterilization machine has been broken for six months, where no infection control measures were taken for a patient with a history of tuberculosis, where a pregnant young woman was left to give birth unattended on the floor of the hospital bathroom. And these were just the stories captured in a recent government review of Indian Health Services (IHS) in our area.

I've heard stories like this over and over again from tribal members.  Enough is enough.  That's why I'm asking you to help us change IHS together. I want to hear your story. I want to make sure IHS is being held accountable. Please share your experiences with us in the form below. I appreciate the feedback and, with your permission, hope to use it to improve the care delivered at IHS facilities across South Dakota.

If the concerns put a loved one's life in immediate danger, please call 911.
