Washington, D.C. – On Monday, December 10, 2018, the National Institute of Health released a Notice of Intent to make available funding opportunities for the development of ethical alternatives to fetal tissue research. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“I am proud to stand among 74 of my House colleagues in calling upon HHS Secretary Azar to end tax payer-funded research tied to the acquisition and use of organs harvested from aborted babies to create mice with similar immune systems to humans.

“HHS has since canceled its contract with Advanced Bioscience Resources and the University of California San Francisco; after multiple congressional investigations uncovered the gross, unethical practice of buying, selling and manipulating aborted fetal tissue for scientific research.

“I applaud President Trump, Secretary Azar and my pro-life colleagues for our unrelenting efforts to defend the sanctity of human life."
