My time in Congress is coming to an end, but I will continue fighting for South Jerseyans through the finish line. The NFIP, which is slated to lapse tonight at midnight, provides flood insurance coverage for my constituents in Ocean and Burlington Counties, as well as the 140 million Americans living in coastal counties across the nation. Through all of the chaos in Washington, I am grateful to get this done for those I’ve represented in Congress for the past four years. While this chapter in my life closes, it is my hope that the attention we’ve brought to this issue will soon result in a new chapter for the NFIP with increased stability, greater accountability, and affordable coverage for South Jerseyans.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Tom MacArthur brought legislation to the House floor that extends the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through May 31, 2019. Without his efforts, the NFIP would lapse at midnight tonight. The Senate previously passed this legislation and it now heads to the Pres...

On what could be my last day of legislating in this Congress, I am glad to see Congress fulfill our commitment to the victims, survivors, families, and heroes of September 11, 2001. I was working in New York City on 9/11 and like so many South Jerseyans and Americans across the country, I shared in the devastation and pain of that terrible day. This law will provide stable funding for the security and operation of this vital memorial so that future generations may safely visit the site and never forget the 3,000 Americans we lost. It is our solemn duty to honor the fallen and protect the living, and it is humbling to see my House and Senate colleagues come together for a cause so near and dear to the lives of millions.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—After four years of championing this cause, Congressman Tom MacArthur's bipartisan bill, the 9/11 Memorial Act, will become law. Yesterday the Senate passed the 9/11 Memorial Act with a minor amendment and this afternoon, the House passed the final bill with overwhelming bipartisa...

Secretary Mattis is a true patriot. His lifetime of service reflects his love of country and commitment to the men and women of our Armed Forces. He has made our nation stronger and safer and he will always have our gratitude.

The Secretary is right that to protect our own interests, we must strengthen our alliances with other nations. We also cannot ignore the real threat from adversaries like China, Iran and Russia. I hope in this new year and in the years to come, we continue to prioritize and build up our alliances, while staying focused on deterring all forms of aggression from bad actors.

I once again voiced my support for America's farmers and ranchers and voted to pass the 2018 Farm Bill. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation not only makes necessary reforms and provides stability to our nation's agriculture industry, it also expands trade opportunities, provides affordable crop insurance that is critical to protect New Jersey farms, and improves conservation programs—all vital pieces that support our state's farming industry. Also, this Farm Bill provides a safety net for those in our community who would not otherwise have access to nutritious food sources. I was the only member of the New Jersey delegation to back this bill from the beginning, and I am proud to once again stand with our state's farmers and agriculture community.

Debbie and I are saddened by the passing of Freeholder John Bartlett. He honorably served the people of Ocean County for 40 years and under his leadership, our community prospered. John's friendship, service, and legacy will never be forgotten.
